For those who are concerned about the welfare of calves on our farm as can be seen from the accompanying photo our method involves leaving the calves with the cows till weaning or suitable alternative home can be found. Very few are "bobbied" if at all.
If we do bobby them they will be a few weeks old, bigger and stronger. Heifers are reared to weaning at 12 weeks of age on the mothers and some bulls are kept. We sell other bulls as breeding bulls. We are aiming to only keep A2 animals.
